We use Semrush and Ahrefs in our agency business and they are excellent tools if you are deeply invested in improving your SEO and AI visibility. They are also fairly expensive and difficult to justify if you are a small or medium sized business.

The pricing philosophy is the whole point. You buy the sheet once ($49.95 right now), then you connect your own DataForSEO account and pay only for the data you use. As a rough example: tracking 100 keywords weekly runs about $1.60/month, and 100 prompts across all three AI platforms is around $4.24/month. So a decent-sized tracking setup might cost you under $6/month in API usage, forever, instead of a monthly software bill.
To be clear about who this is for: if you’re running an agency, need backlink data, technical crawls, or content tooling, go get Ahrefs or Semrush — they’re genuinely great at that stuff and this isn’t trying to compete with them. This is for small businesses, solo founders, and consultants who just want to know: are we ranking, are AI tools talking about us, and is any of that changing over time — without paying for a hundred features they’ll never touch.
